Due to COVID-19 outbreak, enhanced community quarantine has been imposed and travel ban was strictly implemented. Because of this, no one is allowed to go places for no reason at all, not unless you are a front line worker such as the health workers, the police and the military, and many more.
It was a huge burden especially for the drivers, who are not allowed to drive even for limited hours.
Considering that it will be a danger for both the drivers and the passengers, the national government never allowed an exception on public vehicles, even on tricycles and pedicabs.
That is why when Baguio City started showing improvements regarding their COVID-19 situation, drivers had a small hope that maybe, they could something that will wow their LGUs and will finally permit them to start going back on their work.
A jeepney driver decided to redesign his jeep with plastic partition to indicate social distancing and it wowed everyone on social media.
Gideon Amino, one of the designers of the COVID-19 insipired said that this will also help them know immediately if the jeepney is already full. In this case, the usual 18 passenger will take 9-10 people inside instead, to give space for everyone.
And now that ths jeepneys in Baguio are back to their thing, Gideon's idea served as an inspiration for everyone who wants to assure everyone's safety.
"It gave me the sense of comfort and safety. Made me appreciate the effort of the jeepney owner and the driver in making sure their passengers are kept secure," Fe Carina Camaeg, one of the passengers of the jeepney said on her interview with ABS CBN.
