Arjay was teary-eyed when he finally landed at the airport. She had spent the last three years working day and night in Canada just to forget about the woman who hurt her. But now that he's back in the Philippines, all the pain he felt when he saw Shy embracing another man came crashing on his poor heart.
He was distracted for a while by his best friend, who generously offered to let Arjay stay at his condo. After all, he only came back to the Philippines to fix his papers. He was determined to go back to Canada for good as a migrant. When he saw Peter, he forgot about his heartaches for a while.
"Arjay! It's been so long! I'll got you a Grab going to our home but I can't come with you yet. I have to pick up my wife and our son from school."
He hugged his best friend. Peter has always been a play boy but now he's really serious about family life. This made Arjay proud and sad at the same time, wondering the good life he could have had with Shy if only she didn't choose another man.
When Arjay arrived at his friend's house, he immediately set his things and lay on his best friend's bed. But he was surprised that a girl came knocking at the door. He almost lost consciousness when he saw Shy standing at the door, carrying a toddler. Before Shy could speak, Arjay bolted out of the house and looked for the nearest pub to get drunk.
He could not believe that his best friend would betray him like that, knowing how much he loved Shy even though she hurt him bad. One drink led to another, and soon enough he was drunk blind. He decided to confront Peter once and for all. But when he arrived at his friend's house, he was surprised to see a different woman carrying a different child.
He told Peter, "So you betray me by getting together with my ex-wife, and now you're cheating on her? Such nerve you have!"
Confused, Peter told Arjay, "What are you talking about? This is Che, my wife. And I'm not cheating on her!"
"So why did I see Shy here earlier today?
Peter's eyes widened. He could not believe that his best friend thought he had stolen the love of his life. It dawned on him that Arjay knew nothing about what really happened with Shy.
"Man, she never cheated on you. When you saw her embracing another man, that was her cousin. She tried to tell you, but you wouldn't listen to her. She never cheated."
All the drunkenness left Arjay's body upon hearing this. Still, he could not comprehend why Shy was there at his best friend's house earlier.
"When you left, Shy was 2 months pregnant. She had to borrow a lot of money from me, Arjay. Up until now, she's paying for that debt. That's why she frequently comes to my house."
Arjay broke down, realizing what he had done. He took a cab and went straight to Shy's house, wishing she was still in that same old house he knew. Fortunately, she was. When Shy opened the door, she looked so tired, but the toddler in her arms looked happy, and beautiful. Most importantly, he looked like Arjay did when he was young.
If Shy never cheated, it means this child could only be his.
Arjay fell to his knees, begging Shy for forgiveness.
