China National Center for Biotechnology Development confirmed a good news about an influenza medicine developed by a Fujifilm Holdings group, a company from Japan who participated on creating vaccines to fight against Corona Virus (COVID-19). Fully developed by Fujifilm Toyama Chemical, the vaccine is officially called as Favipiravir, sold under the brand name Avigan.

"It is very safe and clearly effective," shared Zhang Xinmin, the Director of the Science Ministry's China National Center for Biotechnology Development, in a news conference.

Faviparavir was first discovered in 2014. And has become one of the main drug administered to corona virus patients in Japan since February.

After several examinations conducted on 200 patients at hospitals in Wuhan and Shenzhen, Results have shown that patients who took the drug tested negative in a short period, while the results with pneumonic symptoms have remarkably reduced.


On results on COVID-19 positive patients, those who took Favipiravir showed negative results after four days of intensive medications, compared to the usual 11 days in the control group, according to Zhang.


When asked about the side effects, the director stated there was yet no clear side effects upon taking the drug.

On another conducted test on a separate hospital in Wuhan, they revealed that patients treated with Favipiravir have more faster recovery from fever, in an average of 2.5 days unlike 4.2 days for other patients who did not take Favipiravir.




Meanwhile amid China's positive claims towards the newly developed vaccine, Japan has the total contrasting results where their researchers have claimed that Favipiravir may cause deformities and fetal deaths once taken and it can also be easily transferred in semen.

On a released statement by Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the drug is still under examination and the results from it might even take longer due to its critical and crucial condition.

Another notable and very talented artist has passed away due to COVID-19 recently. Ito Curata, who paved his way using his exceptional skills on Fashion Designing industry has lost his battle against the virus last Wednesday. The 60 year old designer left his partner, Bob Miller who is currently diagnosed with pneumonia.


It was confirmed by his close friend and also a fashion designer, Joey Galon.

“Our dearest Ito Curata has passed from COVID-19. I am so heart broken of this news.” Galan wrote on his Facebook account last Thursday, announcing the saddening news on their friends.


“He has been one of my greatest mentors pushing me to keep going with my fashion designs as he was one of the most brilliant fashion designers ever.

“He’s been friends with my family for over 35 years. His husband is currently in ICU as they were both admitted for COVID.” Calan added.

“Please keep Bob and Ito’s family in your prayers. My dearest and beloved Ito, soar high now with angels!” The designer continued.

Curata finished his degree on Liberal Arts in University of San Francisco and Academy of Art College.

He then spent his time residing in United States until her went back in the Philippines in 2000 with his spouse Miller.



Miller is now confined in ICU and is being taken care by Galon and their son, Taj.

Curata dedicated his 30 years of successful and sophisticated service and became one of the most respected names in the industry, trusted by clients like actresses Bea Alonzo, Sharon Stone, and former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

2018 Korean drama series My Secret Terrius portrayed an interesting plot that got the people’s interest by their most intriguing scene during their 10th episode, where a doctor explained a manmade virus called coronavirus to Yoon Yi Jeon, a character played by Im Se Mi.

On the series' sypnosis it wrote, ““A secret agent who detaches himself from the world after a failed operation tries to unravel the mystery behind a neighbour’s death.”

On an english translation quote by PEP.PH, here is the actual conversation of the two characters from the scene:

“The doctor tells Yoo Ji-yeon: "We must do more research, but it looks like a mutant coronavirus."
Yoo Ji-yeon asks: "Corona? Then MERS?"

The doctor continues: "MERS, SARS, the common flu. They all fall in the same family with the same gene information. The coronavirus attacks the respiratory system. During the 2015 MERS epidemic, the mortality rate was over 20 percent."



Yoo Ji-yeon clarifies: "But that's not serious enough to be used as a weapon. Am I wrong?"
The doctor explains: "Like I said, this is a mutant virus. Someone tweaked it to increase the mortality rate to almost 90 percent."

“I’ve got cannula, another cannula and a catheter. I’m actually 10 times better now than what I was before – I don’t even know, I’ve lost count of the days.


“If anyone still smokes, put the cigarrettes down, cause I’m telling you now – you need your freaking lungs.” She added.

“And.. please, non-of you take any chances, I mean it. Because if it gets really bad, you’re gonna end up here.

“There is a face and name behind every one of these statistics. Don’t think it will happen to you. Being fit and healthy and young is not a get-out clause.” She said.

“You’re infectious before you get hit. It’s invisible. You can’t see where you’re leaving your germs and you can infect lots of other people. I just want everyone to stay indoors.” She added.

She went on telling how they managed to get him through the hospital and has also recounted the days she spent thinking darkly about the situation and losing hope. As a wife, one of the hardest moment is to see your partner in life trying to win a battle against death.



According to Mrs. Schuchman, Daniel is now going stable and the family hopes his condition continues to improve.

The top French health official confirmed lastTuesday, (Mar 24), that the COVID-19 has already killed another 240 people in the country, with now a total of 1, 100 death cases.

As of now, there are 22,300 patients who had contracted the disease, with a total of 10,176 hospitalized while 2,516 people are in intensive care.


France had officiate a total lockdown on the country and is now become stricter on implementing the order. The country is also toughening the penalties on everyone who will dare and disobey the law.
According to France's director general of Health, Jerome Solomon, death toll of 1,100 were only counted by those who have died of the coronavirus in hospitals, not including the patients who passed away in old people's homes.

Meanwhile as France closes the schools and irges everyone to stay at their houses, they have executed great efforts om assisting their medical team and also established a Military Field Hospital to began on Tuesday.
This temporary hospital is originally structured to be a tent for assisting the armys wounded in the war zone.


Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly said that theses hospitals can accommodate up to 30 patients in intensive care. In fact, they have already admitted its first patient.
The country will use a “specially set up" TGV high speed train to transfer the patients to the Military Hospital.

Los Angeles Lakers confirmed that tow of their members tested positive for the new corona virus on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Meanwhile another NBA team, Philadelphia 76ers also released a statement about the 3 confirmed cases inside their team. According to Lakers, they tested their players due to their game with Brooklyn Nets, last March 10, who had 4 athletes who positively contracted the virus.


Lakers also stated that medical efforts are already exerted and team doctors are closely monitoring the 2 players.

"We learned today that 2 Lakers players have tested positive,"Alison Bogli, Lakers spokesperson shared in a news release.


"Both players are currently asymptomatic, in quarantine and under the care of the team’s physician.


"All players and members of the Lakers staff are being asked to continue to observe self-quarantine and shelter at home guidelines, closely monitor their health, consult with their personal physicians and maintain constant communication with the team." Bogli Added.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers stated that the positive cases were shortly discovered after the warning of the doctors that the whole team and the coach might be exposed on the virus.
