In this age, opening an honesty store is a big risk. However, this first-year student from the University of Southeastern Kidapawan is willing to embrace that risk. Joenel Malanog needed to find a way to earn money, so he decided to invest in a system that is doubted by many.
Joenel badly needs the money to continue his studies as an entrepreneur student. Yet unfortunately, he does not have enough time to find other jobs. However, the 20-year-old student managed to create a way to make little money on the side even without wasting too much time.
The clever student thought of a way to earn money: by selling food! Of course, selling requires him to supervise his store, but Joenel had another thing in mind: an honesty store. With this set-up, he can sell his products without the need of being there all the time.
So, he chose an easily noticeable spot inside the campus. There, he propped up his products using two armchairs. Joenel sold donuts, ice candy, lumpia, and even barbecue to the students. On the floor lay a container in which the buyer can leave his payment.
In a large university with hundreds of students, setting up an honesty store is quite a gamble. There's a chance that you might lose money, but Joenel is willing to take that risk. After all, he believes in the integrity and honesty of the students of the University of Southeastern Philippines.
In the end, Joenel's honesty store worked! In fact, it was such a hit that he is earning more than enough for himself. He even managed to send his four siblings to school all because of the earnings of his honesty store. Just goes to show what an ingenious idea and a little faith can do!
