The iconic celebrity and actress Maine Mendoza, who were first known as “Yaya Dub" on Eat Bulaga's Kalye Serye recently launched a fundraising drive called DoNation to cater employees who are most affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine order, especially those who are under no work no pay system, to help them amid the crisis.
It was a great initiative from the actress and gained a lot of appreciation and praised from the netizens.
DoNation drive aims to give 1,000 PHP cash assistance to everyone who will prove their identity through email, using their identity card (IDs) and will receive the money via GCash.
But apparently, some people see this as an opportunity to take advantage and scam others who only wants to donate.
On a recent post from Maine, she warned her followers to be vigilant and careful against “fraud accounts" who claims to be on Maine's team, persuading people to transfer their money on their account instead.
“For everyone’s information, DoNation drive’s ONLY G-cash number/account is 09563890291. Please do not rely on other people’s post.” The actress wrote on her official Facebook account.
“Always refer to my social media accounts and don’t forget to double check the number! Daming nag-ttake advantage ng situation. Nakakalungkot.” Maine added.
She attached a screenshot of a tweet under her co-host Ryan Agoncillo's name which she claimed was fake.
“Also, that is not Ryan Agoncillo’s Twitter account, it’s a PARODY ACCOUNT. Wala pong Twitter si Kuya Ryan, please don’t fall for any fraudulent schemes by people posing as celebrities/public figures. Always double check.”
As of now, DoNation drive already accumulated 5 million pesos and already helped 587 families.
How can the donors assure that Maine's team are giving help towards the right people? Apparently , the actress is very transparent on every transaction and even published a note on wordpress.com for everyone to check. She even listed the professions they helped and most of them are vendors, security guards and janitors.
