Los Angeles Lakers confirmed that tow of their members tested positive for the new corona virus on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Meanwhile another NBA team, Philadelphia 76ers also released a statement about the 3 confirmed cases inside their team. According to Lakers, they tested their players due to their game with Brooklyn Nets, last March 10, who had 4 athletes who positively contracted the virus.
Lakers also stated that medical efforts are already exerted and team doctors are closely monitoring the 2 players.
"We learned today that 2 Lakers players have tested positive,"Alison Bogli, Lakers spokesperson shared in a news release.
"Both players are currently asymptomatic, in quarantine and under the care of the team’s physician.
"All players and members of the Lakers staff are being asked to continue to observe self-quarantine and shelter at home guidelines, closely monitor their health, consult with their personal physicians and maintain constant communication with the team." Bogli Added.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers stated that the positive cases were shortly discovered after the warning of the doctors that the whole team and the coach might be exposed on the virus.
Both Lakers and Sixers refused the share the personal details of their player for security.
The Sixers aside from he confirmed cases, also three people from their team were now in self-isolation while being monitored with intensive medical assistance.
"All other tests results are currently negative. We have reported this information to state and local health authorities as required." Sixers shared.
"The health of our players, staff, fans and community is paramount, and we continue to be guided by medical experts at this time," the team said.
