An OFW in Italy showed compassion and bravery amidst the scare and the outbreak uncontrollably spreading all around the country. As of now, Italy has the biggest number of positive cases outside China where the virus originated. Despite of the life and death situation for the front liners and other employees, they still choose to do their work and serve the people.
Lester Ramones, a janitor who sanitizes and disinfect the Bologna Train Station is now in his 2 years of service after being long years of working as a Mcdonald's crew. According to Ramones, the current situation in Italy is a great threat against his health but he still chooses to report to work everyday, making sure the stations are sanitized during 6 am to 1:30 pm shift.
He was then started gaining attention from the local citizens and was interviewed by Cabinet Files, a news site in Italy.
According to Ramones, the Italians were uncooperative at the start of the lock down order.
"Ang titigas ng ulo." Ramones said.
He also talked about how their employers is making sure they are well equipped and safe.
Maraming namamasyal." Ramones added.
Is Ramones hoping to go home any sooner? According to him, he puchased a seat sale for May, but is now unsure because of COVID-19. Regardless of the status of his flight, Ramones wishes this pandemic ends soon.
