As a former colony, we certainly inherited a lot from the United States. We got our formal education system, English as our second language, and even our judicial system is based on their Constitution. But more than that, we've come to love American cuisine.
And one of the most favorite U.S. snacks would be the scrumptious and crunchy french fries. The majority of the fast food chains in the country serve it. Even kids love it! We've even developed twister fries and flavors that complement this delicious treat.
However, according to Harvard professor Eric Rimm, we're only supposed to be eating a maximum of 6 fries a day! That's not 6 grams, not even 6 servings. That's 6 individual piece of fried goodness.
Well, he does know what he's talking about since he came from Harvard's T.H. Chan School of Public Health, but seriously professor?
He actually doesn't want us to consume fries altogether and that's his compromise.
His reason for such a statement was that fries are actually starch b0mbs. These are unhealthy and can actually promote obesity once consumed in large amounts
“There aren’t a lot of people who are sending back three-quarters of an order of French fries,” said Professor Rimm in an interview with The New York Times.
“I think it would be nice if your meal came with a side salad and six French fries.”
Meanwhile, a study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition claimed that potatoes, especially fried ones, are really unhealthy. Someone who has eaten fries twice or thrice a week is most likely to develop diabetes, heart problems, or worse.
It's actually all about getting a balanced diet. So are you ready to eat 6 pieces of fries? Share us your thoughts below!
